lol very funny tulsa. no it's really popular in florida and was used in a lot of older homes. they're little pebbles, usually like orange colored and then they run a type of chemical on it.

I knew I could get you to chuckle on that one. You know, since that could be construed as a wise-ass reply, I have been spending the last several minutes looking online for hints of what you are speaking of, just to help out. I have had little luck and now am on a mission...which a couple of frosting beers should really help out. Now, I think I know what you are talking about. They aren't pebbles as much as a very coarse 'sand' such as what is used for sandblasting or fine bed aquariums? Is that what you are speaking of? Where this coarse sand is stuck to the surface of the large 'tile' pieces using a type of resin or epoxy? Is that what you are thinking of? tulsa

When I say sand...it doesn't look like sand...it is very coarse (about 1mm-2mm or so wide..maybe a tad more or less...and the colors are kind of brownish orange with a few really light ones tossed in here and there?)

Exactly, Tulsa. I've been trying all types of searches and can't find anything. This is giving me a headache. Those beers sound good. Think I may have one. Hopefully, we can figure this out. :toast:

Alrighty then. I've got one frosty in hand and am ready to fight through all sorts of web space and web worm holes and things like that. Here I go. If I don't get back to you within the hour or so, you might want to send help. tulsa

The strange and peculiar really interest me sometimes. In the end this has been most difficult, strange and peculiar....but I'm not done...DAMMIT, JIM, I'M JUST A DOCTOR!! What? Sorry about that. Now...I have some answers for you.
They are called 'decorative aggregate' tile. At least that is one term for them. I am not done just yet. I'll be back soon. tulsa

The following site has what you are talking about. Not in any tiles though. It is a process that is done to concrete. Do a google on BIG SKY DECORATIVE CONCRETE FLOORING. If you look carefully at the site at the left tab labelled EPOXY STONE OVERLAY you will see what I think you are talking about. Look under the pictures and see the "Click here for Rock Sizes and Colors" and click that to see if that is the type of aggregate you are speaking of.

I'm not done yet. I'll be back. I swear if I hadn't won a good bit of money using your advice I'd be watching a rerun of MASH right now on the ol' television. tulsa

AHAAA!!! IT is called RUSTIC TERRAZZO!!!!!!!! Well, it seems not by many but by one company that spammed the entire internet bulletin/chat forums with their spiel. Decorative Sand & Stone Company has pictures that will show you exactly what you are talking about.

Yet, I am not completely done. I'll be back!! tulsa

Epoxy Stone

Dear Choose OR Lose,

I am not crazy. I am finished. It is called 'epoxy stone.' You can find repair or such information on Google by using "Repair Epoxy Stone" or such. There you are and good luck with whatever project you have cooked up!!! By the way, don't let any such project keep you from your handicapping duties! Thanks for your advice on the forums and good luck. tulsa

Tulsa you are the man! I appreciate all the work you did. That is exactly the flooring I was looking for. Man I passed out at the computer at like one. So I had to go to bed. Somebody was telling me that the name of that stuff was something like hatuchi or hitachachi. I don't know, but they were wrong. Tulsa, I owe a some rounds and definetly some winners. Hope you haven't been playing my college plays that past week and a half. I will try to work even harder now so I can pay you back. Thanks again and good luck!
